DEBATE AND CONTROVERSY
Just like this issue has brought many people to protest for the “right thing” that may be for the people or children that are abused to be taken to safety there are also people out there who view things in their own perspectives. for example according to Jeanette Moninger, an award winning writer, webMD, states in her article The Great Spanking Debate “...the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) urges parents not to resort to them under any circumstance. ‘There's no reason to get physical with a child when other discipline tactics are more effective,’ says Benjamin Siegel, M.D., chair of the AAP's Committee on Psychosocial Aspects of Child and Family Health. The committee's position is that spanking often evolves into abuse, which endangers a child's safety and can cause psychological damage...” as stated this shows that some parents think that spanking a child is a form of educating them into obeying the rules or learning manners while professionals say that this was of “teaching” a child can affect them negatively in a psychological way in the long run therefore making some other parents stand with the professionals while the other stay in their believes of raising their child maybe because that's how they where raised creating this debate and controversy.
